Mobile dictation made even easier with WinScribe support of new Philips digital recorders

WinScribe’s compatibility with the new Philips 9600 and 9620 Digital Pocket Memos offers faster dictation workflow for professionals on the move.

London, February 26, 2007 -- Philips Speech Processing, developer of professional dictation products has today unveiled two new portable digital dictation devices that operate seamlessly with WinScribe digital dictation software.

Digital Dictation devices are used primarily by mobile workers who are unable to tie themselves down to a PC and need to process dictation files quickly. The audio files are typically downloaded to the PC from the digital device via a USB cable and automatically routed for transcription by WinScribe.  With the release of the Philips 9600 and 9620 recorders, WinScribe users will benefit from the new features on offer.

Philips’ new Digital Pocket Memos have further revolutionised the dictation process by introducing the LAN dock. This unique new functionality means that WinScribe users no longer need to return to a PC to download dictation as they can now connect strategically placed docks straight into their LAN/WAN infrastructure, which is not only more convenient, but will boost productivity and fully automate the download procedure. In addition, the product now offers a large LC-Display with smart buttons, the new DSS-Pro excellent sound quality, BarCode module and built in voice encryption.

“Philips has done a fantastic job designing the new Pocket Memos with many advanced, user-oriented features for faster and more efficient workflow. In particular, the LAN Dock will have great appeal to mobile workers such as healthcare and legal professionals,” says Greg Allen, Chief Technology Officer, WinScribe. “WinScribe is the first digital dictation provider to support the new devices and we are confident the combination will be well received.”

Dr Thomas Brauner, Managing Director for Philips Speech Processing, adds “The Philips Digital Pocket Memo 9600 Series is an easy choice for professionals who attach considerable importance to working with the some of the most advanced technology available." Dr Brauner adds: "That's why we fully support the WinScribe Software with our new hardware device. The combined Philips and WinScribe solution ensures that this design-driven, high-tech tool not only boosts productivity, but also makes a bold statement about how authors value quality and reliability. WinScribe, a certified Microsoft Gold Partner, promotes the Philips digital devices to truly empower organizations to take better control of their document management with their Transcription solution."
