Berrymans Lace Mawer Staff Delighted by Roll Out of SRC WinScribe Digital Dictation
London - 9 January 2006 - More than 650 fee-earners and secretaries at Berrymans Lace Mawer, a major UK insurance and commercial law firm, are creating client documents in a fraction of the time after the firm rolled-out the WinScribe digital dictation system to five of its seven UK offices.
The system, which replaced the firm's analogue tape system, was provided by WinScribe's exclusive UK Platinum Partner SRC and has received universal praise since it was piloted in January 2004, according to IT Project Manager, Darren Broughton.
"The roll out of WinScribe has meant that we've eliminated all the problems associated with analogue tapes, such as low sound quality and accidentally erased or lost tapes, with fee earners and secretaries are working far more flexibly and efficiently," said Mr Broughton.
"Secretaries are now typing documents in less time and the quality of work has also increased. The improved sound quality of the WinScribe system means that far fewer amendments are being made to typed documents."
"From our users' perspective the roll out of the SRC WinScribe solution has been extremely popular; fee earners are delighted by the system's ease-of-use and flexibility and secretaries like being able to manage their workload more efficiently and assist other teams whenever required," he continued.
Commenting on the firm's decision to roll out WinScribe digital dictation, Fran Evans, Head of IT said, "The key factor we consider when selecting a new technology is how it will enable us to improve client service, and in this respect the impact of the WinScribe system has been extremely impressive."
"The ability to allow fee earners to dictate anywhere, anytime automatically share work between departments, easily monitor performance and thus plan resources more effectively, all contribute to increasing the speed and quality of document creation throughout the firm. Ultimately that means a much better service for our clients," she said.
The solution delivered by SRC comprised the WinScribe digital dictation system with Philips SpeechMikes for dictation in the office. The solution also included WinScribe's telephone dictation module to provide fee earners with facilities for dictation when working remotely. SRC provided comprehensive installation, training and project management services during the first phase of the project, which included a dedicated train-the-trainer course that has enabled Berrymans Lace Mawer's in-house staff to train users during the roll-out of the solution.
Commenting on Berrymans Lace Mawer's deployment, Chris Hart, SRC CEO said, "The firm's use of the SRC WinScribe digital dictation solution has once again proven the value that WinScribe's Intelligent Work Management technology brings to a large-scale digital dictation deployment, providing not only ease-of-use, but also improved client service levels."
The WinScribe digital dictation system is now in use by over 2,300 customers worldwide. UK law firms who have recently rolled out the SRC WinScribe solution include, Foot Anstey, Forsters, Gorvins, Beachcroft Wansbroughs, CMS Cameron McKenna, Walker Morris and Lupton Fawcett.
